Hawaii

We're back from our Hawaiian vacation....after a long flight delay. More on that later. We had a wonderful time at the Doyle farm on the big island. Sean's grandparents have a house along with lots of coffee and mac nut trees up in Kona. It is a beautiful place! Our little Luke was quite the water baby. I'm sure he is going to take after his Daddy. We stayed at a hotel the first night and took him to the pool in the morning and he just loved it. He does this high pitch squeal which is by far my favorite sound. He was doing it every time he came in contact with the water. Too cute. We went to Keiki (kid) beach the other days which was perfect. Our biggest challenge was keeping him from swallowing too much sand. Everything goes in the mouth. You think he would learn after the second or third time. He still loved every minute. I can't wait for summer time. I just wish Cali had beaches like Hawaii.
We had a couple hiccups with our airline....American Airlines. My mom and her friend Debbie were supposed to fly out the day after to meet us. Well, they canceled their flight the night before and were not accommodating or polite about making arrangements to get them to Hawaii. The best they could do was three days later...which included an overnight stay on Oahu. So, they ended up not joining us and we missed them. We booked a red eye flight back home because we figured it would be easy for Luke since it was during bedtime. It was supposed to depart 11:55pm (Hawaii time) and arrive at LAX at 6:30am. We called my parents to have them check if the flight was still on...and we got the okay. So we packed up, woke up Luke and headed for the airport. We arrived and noticed the extremely long line for check in. After standing in line for ten minutes without moving we hear a rumor that the flight is delayed. An airport official approached us shortly after and told us the flight was delayed and wouldn't be departing until 3:40am. I just about lost it. All I could think about was how Luke was going to manage being at an airport for almost six hours and then being awake for a five hour flight. I was furious. At least AA could have updated their flight information. Then we could have stayed at the house longer. It was just awful! We are never flying American Airlines. It wasn't a good way to end the vacation.
Although we had issues with the return flight, it still didn't change the fact that we had an amazing family vacation. Our first big trip as a family.

New Toy

I bought these stacking blocks today while at Target (my favorite store). Luke really likes them. He pushes them along as he crawls and then will knock them down and laugh. I think these might be a new favorite.

Luke is 10 Months

Today Luke is 10 months. His first birthday will be here before we know it. He is still crawling around, but is becoming more steady on his feet. He can stand by himself and has taken a step, but comes crashing down. He is still on a fairly limited diet due to his allergies. I make most of his food (except for carrots and peas which I buy) with our food processor. I love it. His favorites include mangoes, avocados, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, pears, apples and believe it or not, broccoli. There isn't much he doesn't like. I tried giving him little teddy puffs (like a cheerio almost...organic, no dairy, no soy, no wheat) and he hasn't reacted yet. I'm hoping that he does okay with them so we can expand his diet a bit more. He is really interested in what we eat. Overall, he is doing well. He has his first two bottom front teeth and boy are they sharp. They took forever to come in and really bothered him. I hope it gets easier with each tooth.

G diapers

We got Luke some new diapers after reading about environmentally friendly diapers. We are really trying to do our part with reducing waste, energy etc. Did you know that over 50 million diapers go into our landfills every day? And that diapers take 500 years to decompose. Scary! Our newest earth friendly additions are the G diapers and a garden composter. These diapers are pretty darn cool. They aren't disposable and they aren't cloth. They are flushable. The outer part is made of breathable cotton and the inside liner is natural fiber and 100% biodegradable. They are chlorine-free, dye-free, perfume-free, etc so no harsh chemicals are left behind on cute little tushies and the earth. What is also cool is you can either flush them or throw wet diapers in a composter. Everything that goes into the flushables gets re-absorbed back into the eco-system in a neutral or beneficial way. Pretty neat. Plus, they are super cute. They come in lots of different colors. If anyone is interested, check out their website. It's worth it.

When the parents are away the dogs will....

These are two new spots I've found the dogs. Guinness finds Sean's chair to be very comfy. I guess he is feeling like all his sleeping spots have been taken over by baby stuff.
